History of the Golden Temple and Interesting Facts
Sri Harmandir Sahib (Devasthan), which is known as Sri Darbar Sahib and especially Golden Temple, is a religious gurudwara of the people of Sikhism which has been established in the city of Amritsar in Punjab of India. Golden Temple Amritsar was founded in 1574 by the fourth Sikh Guru Ramdasji.The fifth Sikh Guru Arjun designed Harmandir Sahib and according to religious beliefs, the ancient history of Sikh religion is also mentioned within Harmandir Sahib. Harmandir Sahib Complex has been established on Akal Takht.
Harmandir Sahib is also known as the place of worship of Sikhs. The main objective of making Harmandir Sahib was to create a place for men and women, where both could worship God equally. According to Sikh nobles, Guru Arjun was invited by Muslim Sufi saint Sai Mian Mir.
The four main gates created in Harmandir Sahib show the thinking of the other religions of the Sikhs, those four doors mean none, the person of any religion can come to that temple. At present, more than 125000 people come to the temple with the intention of worshiping and praying and the main offerings of Sikh gurus are to be accepted as 'anchor'.
In today's Gurdwara in 1764, Jassa Singh Ahluwalia had reconstructed with some other Sikhs. At the beginning of the 19th century, Maharaja Ranjit Singh saved Punjab from outside attacks, as well as covered the upper part of the gurudwara with gold, and since then the fame of this temple has taken four-moons.
